Here’s how I used SubmitHub…

5 things to make sure you do when using SubmitHub

Here are a few simple things you can do to increase the opportunities for fans support your artists!

  1. Set a budget ahead of time…

Don’t break the bank. Set aside a safe amount of your promotional budget ($10, $20, $50) to test out this website. It can be tempting to spend a lot to increase your reach, but you need to be conservative at first.

  2. Be very targeted with who you pitch to…

Don’t throw everything at the wall to see what sticks! Instead, listen to each playlist, search by relevant genre, and read the stats that SubmitHub provides. Be intentional and strategic with your pitches!

  3. Send a personalized message…

When you pitch to a blogger, influencer, or curator, include a single sentence that kindly asks them to consider the track for a specific playlist or feature. This shows that you’re familiar with their content and it helps reduce the amount of work for them.

  4. Don’t read the feedback!

Be strong, ignore their feedback. It is not relevant and it is only meant to ensure they actually listened to the track. The songs are done, there’s no point in discouraging yourself or your artists by reading unsolicited constructive criticism.

  5. Do it the old fashion way!

Once you’ve tried out the service, it may be wise to go back to the most natural way of pitching music: making contacts over time. Nurture your mailing list, engage with blogs and curators on Twitter and Instagram. Promote their platforms year round, not just when they’re promoting your stuff!
