The Hamburg-Based Label Bringing Jazz, Design, and Community Together

In this episode of Other Record Labels, presented by LANDR, we speak with Anton of Silberhall Records, a young indie label based in Hamburg, Germany. Silberhall may be new, but its vision is fully formed: create a label that treats aesthetics with the same care as the music itself.

Anton, a jazz guitarist and visual designer, launched the label with his friend and business partner Annika. Together, they wanted to highlight the work of their local community—friends, collaborators, and fellow musicians—with beautiful visuals and well-planned releases. They are firm believers that in today’s music landscape, audiences experience music visually before they ever hit play.

The label is not genre-restricted. While Anton comes from a jazz background, Silberhall welcomes any sound—as long as the artist has a clear vision. That vision, Anton says, is what helps a label truly collaborate with an artist, not just release their music.

The episode also explores practical lessons: the importance of giving yourself 8 to 10 weeks to prepare a single, the challenges of managing timelines and artist expectations, and how real-world connections (like playing shows and setting up merch booths) remain just as important as social media.

Despite only being a few months old, Silberhall already has a clear aesthetic, a growing audience, and a thoughtful release strategy. It’s a reminder that when a label is built on love for the music and the people behind it, it can go far—fast.
